We all know what happens over the Thanksgiving holiday, and that is eating! The food is delicious, the family time is irreplaceable, and our tummies get pretty full. With Christmas not far off, now is the perfect time to tone up that belly. Practicing yoga, in my opinion, is the best way to do just that. Here are three yoga poses to tone that post-Thanksgiving belly.
Dolphin Plank Pose
The dolphin plank yoga pose is done by balancing on your fore arms and your toes. Many people know this exercise as simply the plank. Coming down from Downward facing dog, shift your weight forward and exhale as you come down on your forearms. Hold this pose for five breaths or for as long as you can. This pose strengthens your core and your back, getting right to work on toning that tummy.
Extended Half Moon Pose (Or Balancing Star)
This pose is like a side plank, only you hold your top leg in the air. When working your belly, it is important to tone the obliques too. This pose is difficult, but with practice it will have you loving your belly fast!
Boat Pose
This pose really challenges all four layers of your ab muscles. Sit on the floor and extend your legs in front of you with arms out in front; your core is instantly in charge. This is a wonderful go-to core toning yoga pose that will quickly tighten those post-Thanksgiving rolls.
The Holidays are the time for friends, family, and all those little indulgences. Let’s enjoy the sweet and savory foods this year, with no guilt! Take yoga with you as you enjoy your holiday season.
