Alabama-born Vinyasa yoga teacher and NYU Film major Phillip Askew starred in, shot, and edited this short film himself in 2011, 11 years after discovering yoga at an old theater in his hometown, where people would gather to try out poses from yoga books.
“Vinyasa yoga is a plural practice; existing in the space between traditions, and in their interaction,” he writes about his film, which he composed from over 30 hours of yoga footage in 45 locations around New York City and Mysore in India.
Indeed, a beautiful contrast of cultures and landscapes is seen accompanying his outdoor practice between the two cities. Check it out!
