We all constantly hear about the many holistic benefits of yoga and how it can personally transform our lives.
But did you know that there are also organizations out there who bring yoga to places all over the world, transforming not just individual lives, but that of entire communities? One such group is the Africa Yoga Project.
What They Do
Instead of simply bringing yoga to Africa via free classes, what the Kenya-based Africa Yoga Project does is they “educate, elevate, empower” their students in marginalized, vulnerable communities to also become teachers to continue serving and helping their community and beyond. (Think of it as a really awesome pay-it-forward system for yoga.)
The video above is “a companion piece to the 2012 Emmy Award-Winning Documentary, Practice: Change The Africa Yoga Project Story.” Watch it to learn more about what they do, and find out more about the documentary here.
