Agni and Ayurveda: What’s Making You Sick? (VIDEO)

Happiness | Lifestyle

There’s no denying that our lives are pretty full these days! We live on a constant and never ending diet of information, ideas, emotions, sights, sounds, tastes and smells all designed to feed our growing appetites for speed, convenience and satisfaction.

But have you ever wondered what it’s really doing to us? In this episode I’ll tell you about another of Ayurveda’s most fundamental principles. This one’s gonna hit you right where you live and hopefully shine a light on how your environment and your choices might just be making you sick!

What’s the state of YOUR agni?

How well are you digesting life… and that pizza you ate last night? It’s an important question to ask because the mind and body are inextricably connected. And your ability to feel happy healthy and whole is equally connected to how well nourished you feel inside and out.

In the video I promised a few more ways to manage your agni. Here they are!

  • Prime your fire – Hot lemon water in the morning on an empty stomach is a great way to boost your digestive fire, giving it a leg up on digesting your breakfast and your day!
  • Go easy on the cold stuff – The ayurvedic view is that cold foods and drinks can cool your digestive fire. So avoid things like iced water (opting instead for room temperature water), and cold foods, especially when you feel heavy or that your digestion may be slow.
  • Get moving – Moderate exercise is a great way to warm the mind and body from the inside out. It kindles your digestive fire and keeps it on a slow and steady burn.

If you’ve never paid attention to your digestion, agni and Ayurveda, now’s the time to tune in and turn that around! The Ayurvedic view is that digestion is king. And if want to be king of your world, you’ve got to keep your fires burning!
