6 Books to Inspire Your Best Year Yet

It’s that reflection-inducing time of year again when we can’t help but put our lives under the microscope.

As we welcome the New Year in, we hold our breath, full of hope and set intentions to draw our dreams ever closer.

The trouble is, in order to chart a course towards our best year yet it’s not always enough to dream. Desire ignites a spark within, but we must be sure to fan the flames in order to reach our destination. But how?

Goal-Oriented Living Through Reading

Goal-orientated living is often misguided and often leads to frustration, struggle, and suffering because we’re so deeply focused on what we’re trying to obtain. The trick to successful living is to cultivate new habits, foster positive thinking, and focus on your own confidence and wellbeing.

More easily said than done!

So your dreams don’t lead to disappointment and disaster, I’ve compiled a list of my must-reads that will assist and inspire you to design your life, the way you want it, in 2016.

Here are 6 books to inspire your best year yet:

1. The One That Will Inspire New Habits

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

“Willpower isn’t just a skill. It’s a muscle, like the muscles in your arms or legs, and it gets tired as it works harder, so there’s less power left over for other things.”~ Charles Duhigg

2. The One That Will Help You Identify Your Purpose

The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

“In times of pain, when the future is too terrifying to contemplate and the past too painful to remember, I have learned to pay attention to right now. The precise moment I was in was always the only safe place for me.”~ Julia Cameron

3. The One That Will Make You Take Charge of Your Own Destiny

#girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

"Abandon anything about your life and habits that might be holding you back. Learn to create your own opportunities. Know that there is no finish line; fortune favors action. Race balls-out toward the extraordinary life that you’ve always dreamed of, or still haven’t had time to dream up. And prepare to have a hell of a lot of fun along the way."~ Sophia Amoruso

4. The One That Will Inspire You to Live a Creative Life

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

“Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”~ Elizabeth Gilbert

5. The One That Will Boost Your Confidence

You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

“You are loved. Massively. Ferociously. Unconditionally. The Universe is totally freaking out about how awesome you are. It’s got you wrapped in a warm gorilla hug of adoration. It wants to give you everything you desire. It wants you to be happy. It wants you to see what it sees in you.”~ Jen Sincero

6. The One That Will Unleash Your Potential

Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Life by Tony Robbins

"Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human."~ Tony Robbins

Remember that life is for living. So play with it and have fun. Invent yourself, then reinvent yourself, tweaking and refining along the way and accept you’ll never really be done. Self-development is a constant process of personal revolution.
