Balance Your Life – A column by Amy Kite
Love. The poets write about it; the artists are fueled by it; the songs on the radio are filled with the feelings surrounding it. It moves us as it perplexes us. It satiates us as it frustrates us. It eludes us as it appears on our doorstep. But, no matter how you love or how much love you open your heart to, there is always room for more. And, hey, love is what makes the world go ‘round after all! So, check out these five tips on how to welcome more love into your world.
1. Open Your Eyes
There is so much love right in front of you. Many of us spend the day with our heads buried in laptops and cellphones. Try looking up and smiling at a stranger, or take the time to really pay attention and listen to a co-worker or friend. Don’t be afraid to connect with others and to see the goodness that is right in front of you.
2. Be Empathetic
It’s easy to get caught up in our own daily stresses. But, take the time to contemplate the world around you and try to understand someone else’s struggle, hope, worry or fear. Most likely, you have been there yourself. Listen, offer comfort and understanding and see how being compassionate can fill you with feelings of affection.
3. Love Yourself
We often feel as if we have been programmed to be modest and humble. While those are attractive traits, it’s also appealing to stand tall and proud and embrace all of your wonderfulness. Don’t be afraid to celebrate YOU! Be grateful for your life and for all of the good things that you do with it. Take that pride, and let it shine.
4. Emanate Joy
It’s an obvious fact: People gravitate towards good energy. What you put out there in the universe is often what you will get in return. So, smile and laugh and be joyful. Then, see how that good energy will catapult back your way.
5. Take a Shot
To love in a big way, you often have to take a risk. You need to make yourself vulnerable. If you don’t take the chance, you can’t reap the benefits. Simply let go and believe. Don’t live your life with fear and regret. Sure, you may get hurt by putting yourself out there. You may not. But, you’ll never know if you don’t open the door to the possibility of connection and love. Believe in tomorrow … Believe in now … Believe in love.
